Grand Canyon Shanti Yoga

Yoga unites the mind, body, and soul in a way that eases tension, reduces inflammation, and promotes health and well being. Regular practice will help you reach, improve and perfect poses, correct posture and positioning, and improve your breathing and outlook on life. Owners and sisters, Angelé Mead and Gina Carpenter started this studio with the idea that yoga should be accessible to all body types, ages and levels of fitness.  Most of all, they wanted to make yoga available to the people of their beloved hometown.  Having lived in Williams their whole lives, it was important for them to create something that gives back to the community.  For that reason, classes are kept affordable, and many offerings, such as the meditation classes, are free.  At Grand Canyon Shanti Yoga, we want you to be comfortable in our classes.  Our students are of all ages and all abilities.  We pride ourselves on our ability to help everyone learn and grow in their yoga practice.  We are proud to be able to offer yoga in Williams that is affordable, and inclusive practices that everyone can do!

Meet our teachers...

Gina Carpenter

Gina is a co-owner of GCSY.  She has been practicing yoga for 7 years and has been teaching for 3 years.  She has completed 500 hours of training at 7 Centers in Sedona. Gina’s passion for yoga comes from personal experience with the many benefits, not only in the physical realm, but also the mental and emotional aspects.  She believes yoga cured her anxiety and depression and has helped her grow into a confident and happy human! Gina teaches gentle Hatha yoga and yin yoga, which she believes is the ticket to longevity in the body.  In her spare time she enjoys gardening or hiking with her husband and dog, as well as spending precious time with her grandchildren.

Angelé Mead

Angelé Mead is a co-owner of GCSY. She has been practicing yoga for nearly a decade and has been teaching for 3 years. While working full time as an office manager and legal assistant in Flagstaff, she has managed to complete a total of 500 hours of teacher training at 7 Centers Yoga Arts in Sedona! After experiencing the mental, emotional and physical benefits of yoga, Angelé was driven to learn everything she could about this beautiful art and science! She loves to practice and teach yoga in the community she grew up in and truly believes that the practice of yoga will enhance all aspects of one’s life. In addition to teaching and practicing yoga, Angelé loves cooking, enjoying the outdoors and, of course, spending as much time as she can with her husband Bert, and Fletch, her beloved Golden Retriever.

Carrie Hoffman

Carrie has been practicing yoga for over six years and has always turned to her practice for stress relief and spiritual connection. She loves enabling students to explore yoga beyond the mat and discover a spiritual practice that works for them! In 2018 she obtained her Yoga Alliance RYT 200 from Quantum Yoga School under teacher Lara Baumann. Quantum's unique yoga education provided her with expertise in Ayurveda, Yoga Philosophy, Vinyasa, and incorporating the modern principles of Quantum Physics into yoga. She also offers group and private Ayurvedic Recovery Coaching and is currently pursuing a certification in Ayurvedic Counseling. She loves travel, hiking, photography, and puppies!

Rianna Nicole

Rianna Nicole is originally from Williams. At a young age she started practicing the art of yoga in Sedona and moved to Hawaii where she was fortunate to have wonderful yoga experiences and training.  In 2002 she moved to Pennsylvania and started her teaching career. Rianna has been teaching a variety of yoga disciplines for 17 years, from Hatha and senior yoga to Ashtanga and Baptiste yoga. Rianna owned her own studio in Angel Fire,  New Mexico. She has her 200 hour training through Evolution Power Yoga. Rianna currently lives in Williams and is the mom of 4 daughters.

Calm Your Mind

Yoga not only helps improve your body, but also helps with mindfulness and meditation. It is important to take a break from daily life in order to focus on yourself and get clarity.

Focusing on your breath during practice is key to staying in tune with your mind and body.

Enhance Your Wellness

Yoga is a great way to improve your endurance in other physical activities. After a run, or heavy workout, yoga will help your body relax while stretching, strengthening, and lengthening the muscles you were just working on.
